Updated FedACH Service Alert: File Delivery Delays
We are continuing to monitor active service alerts from the Federal Reserve regarding delays in FedACH Services.
FedACH has experienced delays in delivering end-of-day ACH distribution files for the March 2 business day. Delivery of advices and the scheduled 8:30 AM ET settlement were also impacted. While processing continues, institutions may experience downstream timing effects.
Important for Financial Institution Members:
Nacha has noted that some ODFIs may receive what appear to be late returns due to the later-than-normal distribution of files from the March 2 business day. In many cases, RDFIs provided those returns to their respective ACH Operators in a timely manner.
ODFIs that dishonor such returns as untimely (R68) on March 3 should expect the possibility of receiving contested dishonored returns (R73), or assertions of Excused Delay, if the delay was beyond the reasonable control of the RDFI.
We encourage institutions to review returns carefully and consider the broader processing delays before initiating dishonored return actions.
